What you have here is a ceremonial item as the Missouri war axe head is made of pewter , their are several “ bat wing “ style cut outs . The short handle featuring red trade cloth forming a drop at the end has 5 rows of square shanked brass tacks .
This is a large and beautiful axe and although functional theses pewter heads were not made to be used other than a blunt club at times , definitely not for chopping wood
