Old Authentic Tomahawk Hand Forged

This has been hanging in my family's home for as long as I can remember. Its unusual it has a square handle like you would see on an adz fastened tight with an 1800s metal square head nail. Its not marked I believe its an old war tomahawk or something of that nature it belonged to my grandfather who said it was his fathers but he really knew nothing about it. The handle is 18" inches long and the head is 6 3/4" across and 2 3/4" at its widest spot
