Description

Robert Sorby 5/16" wide fluted parting tool. The tool is sound and tight in the handle. The ferrule is sound with no cracks. The handle is sound with no cracks. The thin fluted parting tool  works fine. The steel has some pitting and staining and abrasions on it that don't affect it functionally. Ugly, but it works fine. It's been sharpened. The tool steel is M2 High speed steel.
The HSS tool has a flute running along the bottom edge, creating two sharp spurs at the cutting face. These spurs sever the wood fibers to produce a cleaner smoother finish. The tapered profile also reduces the risk of the tool binding in the cut.

A Note on Shipping Times:
I use the USPS for all my shipping. I’ve been checking the tracking on the items I’ve shipped and the USPS is taking twice as long for items to be delivered. The longest delay was 17 days for a 3-day priority mail package. Most are 6 to 8 days to complete the delivery. This is largely due to the carriers not scanning the packages when they pick them up. No scan, No tracking = slow delivery times. My carrier tells me that the USPS is overwhelmed with package deliveries and they are working with reduced staffing.
