Vintage Northern Plains Lakota Sioux War Club Skull Cracker from the Rosebud Reservation
.  This War Club measures 20.5 inches long.   The stone head is 6.5 inches long.  The War Club weighs 1 pound.
So how did we get this?   We found this item at a estate sale.   The owner (now 70) told me that he went with his parents to the Rosebud Reservation when he was 13 years old in 1963.   His parents were social workers and were at the reservation giving out food to the Native Americans who were living on the reservation.   He was there for the summer with his parents.  When his parents were about to leave the reservation, one of the tribe's elders gave this War Club to his parents.   They were told it was from the elder's family who were killed at Wounded Knee in 1890.   There are cracks in the stone as shown in the photo.   The leather on the handle is unraveling in the middle.   Nothing has been done to this War Club per the former owner.   There is no paper work.
